My Firefighter

Verse

Jump out of my skin

you firefly

you’re in the room

you’re bringing on a bonfire

getting my blaze going

Chorus

Your pretty blue eyes

curly red hair

Like your momma

from the far green hills

Bring me to the cries

flaming for combustion

searing to a smolder

my blaze my firefighter

Verse

You line my stars up

they shine so bright at night

when you enter my room

I have no archaic recollection

of your nocturnal synchronizing

Chorus

Your pretty blue eyes

curly red hair

Like your momma

from the far green hills

Bring me to the cries

flaming for combustion

searing to a smolder

my blaze, my firefly

Verse

Thinking so heavy

oh so heavy

how to get out of this blaze

all these fireflies

Don’t move, move

play, my boy, my man

Chorus

Your pretty blue eyes

curly red hair

Like your momma

from the far green hills

Bring me to the cries

flaming for combustion

searing to a smolder

my blaze my firefly

oh you’re so heavy

oh so heavy

play me my boy my man

mmmm

my firefighter

00000000

00000000

hmmmmm

hmmmmmm

“Sailing In the Sea” #newsonglyrics #lorijeanfinnila #singersongwriter #goingblind

I wrote this after watching the movie ‘True Spirit’ on Netflix. I had been lost in a place I hadn’t been in before swinging in my yoga hammock. When I came back to the presence of my normal I realized I was very comfortably lost in the swinging in the dark with my eyes closed as a normal. I knew what to write after I saw Jesse’s story. I knew my body was pleasantly, comfortably accepting the new normal about to come and I embraced it. I wanted to share this but couldn’t figure out how to word it.

“Sailing In the Sea”

I sit here rocking

Though I know you’re still with me

I caught a moment when you weren’t

I wasn’t scared for that time

Just lost in a beautiful place

I was sailing in the sea

Chorus

It’s like sailing in the sea

Just swinging here in my swing

Losing my sight is like

Sailing in the sea

Verse

I know now

Not to be afraid

It comes on so slowly and comfortably

It’s just like sailing in the sea

Mother Mary thank God I believe

this voyage comes so easily

I know all my faith

has brought me to this calm place

Chorus

It’s like sailing in the sea

Lost in a beautiful place

losing my sight

Is like sailing in the sea

Verse

And when the dark all happens

I’ll know I’m in a safe comfortable place

Cuz I feel it now

Rocking in my swing with my eyes closed

Bridge

I’m locked up in this feeling

I’m closed in this thought

I know I’m safe and secure

no matter what happens now

Chorus

It’s like sailing in the sea

Just swinging here in my swing

Losing my sight is like

Sailing in the sea
