This came from a recent video I did. I was able to bring it closer to a song. I’m still working on it. It comes from my personal story yet reflects to so many others’.

To Be a Woman Again

I lay my head back so elegantly 

Bending my head to my feet 

You stand beside me supporting me to let go

And go further than I ever thought I could 

Even though I don’t know where I am sometimes 

You pick me up

With broken wings

And a tethered soul

Sometimes I don’t know who I am

If only I can find the flower inside of me

So I can be a woman again

I’d never do this without 

You still see beauty in me

I forget to look for this

I could never imagine 

not feeling so awkward in my body

Feeling proud of what I’ve accomplished 

I’ve had such a hard time connecting to

I feel the air in my head

My body drink in the movement

My entire happiness surrounds these times

If I can only get better to be a woman again

I’d carry the heavy load for you

Even if it’s every day

Just to feel the flower inside of me again

I’d pick you up

When your down

Caress your face to bring you a smile

Flower inside of me

As I fall back so gently and elegantly

Let my body drink in each movement 

Even though I don’t know where I am

If I can only get better to be a woman again

Poetry Book From Songs From Podcast #lorijeanfinnila #poetrybook #podcast

I've updated my poetry book cover that's coming out this Fall. I'm pleased I'm feeling more comfortable expressing myself with my work. I feel confident I'm getting closing to communicating fully in a way I want. It's such a good feeling. 

I love the color of the cover and the photo I took. I took many photos of flowers hiking and at my local park that I walk around. I'm so proud I pushed myself even when tired to do this. I even wrote a song about the exhaustion of this in "On the Edge of Death" which I put into poem form as the other songs I've written from my weekly podcast. I'm  not happy it doesn't fit my artist photo on the back cover but I didn't like the photo I had anyway. There still may be changes to come but I'm getting closer.
