My mother was told while I was tied to our cellar stairs as a toddler that it would be good for her to spend time with, a cop and his friend by them in our small town of Westford, MA in the 60’s. She was an illiterate Portuguese woman with a 4th grade education and with only a green card and sexually abused at 14 in Portugal by her uncle being tied to a chair. Imagine.
You know abuse might have taken away my hands to write long, my body to move as gracefully in my dance, my mind slow to remember at times, but my body is beginning to feel the flow again: there is hope.
